This television advertisement provides older people with basic information about what to do should they be confronted by an unknown caller at their home. Research into the needs of older people determined that a number of key points should be made to ensure the message was effective by:

  • Emphasizing the fact that crime against older people is rare and that most unexpected callers to the home are genuine
  • Having a non-threatening outcome
  • Having a clear message about the routine that should be adopted when answering the door to an unknown caller
